Saw this movie tonight and came away kinda of depressed. It was a good movie, shot beautifully, funny moments, good overall acting...but there was this very long and depressing section of the movie that brought me down and kept me down through the end....I guess that's what makes some people say "it's soo deep and it changed my life." I didn't really think it was deep nor did it change my life, but it was a good movie. Kudos to Zach Braff.

I got dragged to this movie by a friend of mine. it seemed like the biggest chick flick ever, and i didnt wanna see it, but i wanted to hang out so i went anyway.
Plot: Zach Braff's character is informed one day that his mother died. So he returned to his native New Jersey for the funeral after a 30 so year absence. On this trip he meets a girl, and also hangs out with a bunch of his old friends. He has been on a variety of drugs for almost as long as he can remember, and decided to leave them in LA.
Genre: Wow, hard to classify. The heavy involvement of his new love intrest would almost make this a chick flick, but i dont think it quite qualifies. On the other hand, there's enough funny things that happen to almost make it a comedy...but the chick flickness sort of keeps it from being an actual comedy. Overall, i'd call it a chick-comedy....a comedy flick? a drama-dy? I dont know. Whatever it is, i like it.
A word about Zach Braff: Zach Braff is the Writer, director, and star of this movie. Some of you may know him from the hit NBC sitcom scrubs. So i guess this makes him a triple threat: write, direct, act. He's awesome, and his writing shows it, adding just enough comic relief to make his movie not totally girly.
Overall: Lots of people have said this movie changed thier lives because it was so deep and beautiful. I thought it had some beautiful camera work. I thought it was kinda deep, but not in a boring depressing way. I really cant describe this movie too well without giving stuff away, because all the elements of the plot are given so well, to tell them beforehand sort of ruins the effect. Still, a very very good movie. 4.3/5 stars
